Terms of Use

These conditions govern use of the website. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that you accept them. If you do not agree, discontinue use of the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with Surry County, North Carolina, or any other government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its role is to point readers toward criminal-record resources in Surry County and North Carolina. It is not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government ties. It does not hold official criminal records, file court papers, retrieve official files, or perform an official background check.

The content identifies records held by the Surry County Sheriff's Office, the Surry County District and Superior Courts, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Some pages also connect to outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Interfere with the site's speed, availability, or another visitor's access
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against these pages
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any account, server, or system
  • Use site content in a hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decision
  • Threaten, harass, or stalk anyone with information found here
  • Violate any applicable local, state, or federal law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this site or a linked tool must not be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. North Carolina General Statutes Chapter 14, Article 27A governs the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Registry information exists for public safety and community awareness, not private enforcement, retaliation, or discrimination. Misuse may be a crime.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create credit reports, consumer reports, or background checks. Our advertising partners do not turn this website into an FCRA screening service. Information from the site or any linked tool may not be used to:

  • Perform any other act governed by the FCRA
  • Set insurance premiums or assess creditworthiness
  • Determine eligibility for a government benefit, permit, or license
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Make a hiring or termination decision

A check for an FCRA-regulated purpose must come from an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider. North Carolina statutory fingerprint checks must use the official channel required for that specific purpose.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot decide how a Surry County charge, conviction, warrant, or North Carolina expunction law applies to a specific person. Consult a lawyer licensed in North Carolina for legal advice.

6. No Warranties

All website material is provided "as is." We make no promise that:

  • An outside search provider will return complete or correct results
  • The pages are free from bugs, errors, or security weaknesses
  • The website will always be available without interruption
  • Every detail is complete, accurate, or current

Criminal records change when charges are filed, resolved, sealed, or expunged. Delays and gaps can occur. Nothing published here is an official statement by the Surry County sheriff, a North Carolina court, or another government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to the Surry County sheriff, court portals, North Carolina agencies, legal resources, and outside search services. Those destinations are beyond our control. We are not responsible for their content, fees, availability, or data practices. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Surry County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, modified, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the broadest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for damages arising from use of the website, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to protect and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal costs and fees.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms. A dispute tied to use of the website must be brought in a court located in North Carolina.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be changed. A revision takes effect when the new language is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or terminated at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms stay in effect. The affected provision will be narrowed only as much as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
